Summary: The crew of the original Star Trek
television series return in their second major motion picture, The
Wrath of Khan. Khan, played by Ricardo Montalban, is an
intelligent man who was genetically bred as a race of superhumans.
When Khan and his group of superhumans are left behind on a desolate
planet and neglected by Captain Kirk, Khan grows bitter and over time his
wrath moves him to seek revenge on Kirk, now Admiral of the
Federation. Khan and his renegade group of superhumans take over the
scientific Space Station Regula One and steals a top secret experimental
device called Genesis, which literally promises to turn a barren planet
into a lush and inhabitable planet. Khan's plans are to use the
superpower of the Genesis device to destroy Kirk. Does Admiral Kirk
still have what it takes to command his crew out of this deadly
scenario? Hang on for a gut-wrenching ending where Trekkies have
never gone before. For the avid Trekkies, this is the definitive DVD
version of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and needs to be a part
of every fan's collection. This feature-rich two-disc set gets my
emphatic nod of approval.
Special Features: This Director's Edition
comes with over five hours of brand new bonus features, spread across two
discs. There should be enough bonus materials here to keep most
Trekkies at bay. Even the DVD menus are nicely animated.
Disc 1: commentary with director Nicholas
Meyer; text commentary by Michael Okuda (co-author of The Star Trek
Encyclopedia)

or better. Only the highest number of channels of surround sound
format is listed (e.g., Dolby Digital 5.1). If there are both Dolby
Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 soundtracks, then both are listed. All
DVD-Video discs are backwards compatible with stereo-only playback
systems.
