Summary: Meg Ryan stars as a
competitive, high-stake executive who seems to be successful at her New York
corporation, but she is miserable in her love life after the break-up of
her four-year relationship. Focusing her energy in her work, Kate finds
herself emotionally shut off until she is accidentally forced to get along
with Leopold (Hugh Jackman), a 19th century bachelor-Duke who accidentally
travels forward in time to Kate's modern-day era of career women.
Dazed with the shock of time travel, Leopold tries to make sense of
modern-day culture. In the world
where women can make their own marks and the simplest pleasures of life
are overlooked, will this Leopold be able to turn the cynical Kate to
follow her heart? The romance is wonderful with old fashion
courtship and timeless chivalry. Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman are
delightful together. Fans of Meg Ryan's classic romantic comedies
will not be disappointed. Even though the plot uses the device of time
travel, kid you not: this is not a science fiction movie.
(Though sometimes it seems to think it is.) Those looking for a
romantic comedy to briefly escape the pressures of modern-day life will
find this film and DVD therapeutic. The DVD includes both the
theatrical version and the director's cut of the film.
