Summary: Heath Ledger stars as Harry
Feversham, the son of a brave British military officer, who joins the
Royal Cumbrians as a commissioned officer for adventure and camaraderie.
He is highly respected by his friends and fellow officers. His
engagement to the beautiful Ethne (Kate Hudson), daughter to a military
hero, brought admiration from his closest friends. But when his
regiment is assigned to combat duty in Sudan, Harry has second thoughts
about why he is in the military. Unable to deal with the pressures
of going to war, he resigns from his commission to the dismay of his
commanders and fellow officers. For this act of fearfulness, he gets
three white feathers as a sign of cowardice. Even Ethne is shocked
at his decision. Unable to change
Harry's decision to resign his commission, she gives him the fourth white feather!
With his life in a ruin and being a disgrace to his
family, Harry reexamines his life and the consequences of his resignation.
Realizing the mistake he had made and gathering courage, Harry picks up
his life and heads to Sudan to see what help he can offer to his
comrades. He nearly dies in this journey to Sudan, but befriends Abou
Fatma, a brave warrior who is most loyal to him. The Four
Feathers is about Harry's redemption, the bonds of friendship, and the love he holds for his one-time fiancée. This is
an epic adventure film, with heart-stopping action scenes and thrilling
romance. Having enjoyed this movie immensely, I recommend this movie
to fans of epic romances and adventure.
Special Features: Thought Paramount has
usually been stingy with the amount of bonus materials in its DVD releases
to date, The Four Feathers DVD comes with quite a few featurettes.
I think this is an encouraging sign for Paramount. The bonus
material include: an audio commentary with director
Shekhar Kapur; "A Journey From Within - The Making of The Four Feathers"
featurette; "The Sounds of East and West" featurette, "The Battle of Abou Clea"
featurette, "The Mystery of the Desert" featurette, "A Historical
Perspective" featurette, "The Friendship of Abou Fatma"
featurette, "A Journey of Self-Discovery" featurette, "Surviving the
Prison" featurette; theatrical trailers for The Four Feathers and

or better. Only the highest number of channels of surround sound
format is listed (e.g., Dolby Digital 5.1). If there are both Dolby
Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 soundtracks, then both are listed. All
DVD-Video discs are backwards compatible with stereo-only playback
